my moves

i'm really getting excited about my team. My captain is a fantastic recruiter and organizer and because of him our team is growing and getting really strong. And with our team play oriented style, we are all playing better basketball than we have ever played. time to go through my moves again and refresh my arsenal.

my step through isn't going anywhere. its the first move that came back after my recovery from my surgery; its already completely deeply ingrained within me. I've done it so many times that its a part of me.

a new move i've developed post-surgery is the sky hook. this will be one of my go to moves from now on.

of course, i have the drop step. I don't quite have the strength to pull it off against similar weight categories as me yet, but anytime i get switched onto a small, the drop step is my go to move. every single time, its an auto score.

a new one i wanna work on is this. I used to just call it a spin, but apparently it has this really cool nickname called the black tornado. dayum now i really want to master it.

those are the post moves.

then we have the driving moves.

i haven't done the dream shake since pre-acl, and i'm dying to try it out soon. used to throw it out every single game.

there's also my euro step. i still have it, its not as aggressive as before since this goes hard in lateral motion but i still have enough mojo to turn the defender around.

a move i knew how to do but never exactly mastered before was the spin cycle. i wanna add that in too. this one is a little scary for me because its how i tore my acl the final time, so i definitely need to practice it alot more. along with the euro since those are risky moves. i'm going to do them slower now but more deliberate so it should be better.

my new go to is a variation of my post sky hook. the right handed baby hook which is pretty much unstoppable.

of course i also have the splitting the defense with a crossover.

another one i always wanted to add to my arsenal is the hop step.

Then you have the off ball moves.

First, the "B" spot screen and roll to get my teammate the open shot at the ABC line.

the next one is the curl around the screen/post player to get the hand off into the shot or drive.

I'm also trying to master how to use my opponents as a screen. i'll kinda walk my mark right into a thick mass of bodies, usually his own teammates, then sprint out and leave him stuck there. open shot every single time.

have to figure out the fake cut also. pretend to use my teammate's screen, then run the other way.
