I dunno if it was the best experience ever, but it counts as the top 3 for sure.
Firstly i have to thank Wuyang Tianzhi Mingxue Rongbing Moey for inviting me into their bball team and giving me the top 3 best experiences of my life. Let me elaborate on the experience.
The game was 12-8. the time keeper yelled 10 seconds left. the ball came to me. i danced with the bball at my hands abit, did a standard shooting move (fake a drive to the left and step back for a jumper) and shot the ball while the committee (audience) chanted 3...2...1.
At 1, the ball went in. It was an ice cold swish and honestly... the best thing that ever happened to me all year. My teammates went wild and i felt like i was on top of the world. If it feels so good at a meaningless half time buzzer beater (when the game is far from over)... i can't even imagine how good a FULL TIME GAME WINNER BUZZER BEATER is going to be. I'm definitely going to try to enter every competition i can from now onwards to try to get that feeling, because i have no doubt its going to be the number 1, best experience ever in my whole life by a country mile.
Time to document this awesome experience in my life by giving a blow by blow of the situation.
In the first game, i scored 6 points right on my opponents right from the go. The first 2 were my standard moves, driving in, throw a couple of fakes and a couple of spins, but the 3rd was wild. The guy guarding me who was frigging huge n strong got wise to my moves and shoved me while i was jumping (shoulda been an AND1 btw, but ref missed it) but somehow i shot in one of the best shots i've ever shot. Off balance one handed fading away from the board. I actually ignored everyone immediately after the shot and stood there with my hands wide from my body in a celebration pose. Kinda obnoxious in hindsight. lol. It was 10-9 in our favour. But they stepped it up a notch and blew us away after that. But it still felt good, i think esp since i was playing with bros and we were just trying to have a good time. I honestly played out of my skin, and i think it was mainly because i was comfortable with my teammates. Scored two free throws and another shot in the 2nd half, ending with a pretty nasty 12 points out of my team's score of 19.
In the 2nd game, i went to chat up our opponents and realised the guy i was going to be guarding next was an ang mo who told me he was 6 foot 4. checked the internet, yea its 1.93 -.- i'm frigging 1.81m. And he said he was school team also. Awesome + awesome. And i thought the guy in my first game was huge.. My team came up big in the 2nd game and we did really well although we got trounced 29-17. (our opponents went on to win the tournament) But i scored 7 and halfway through got really frustrated that i wasn't getting the ball as much as i liked (my only regret of the entire experience, as usual due to my short temper) and yelled abit and threw a small tantrum on the court. However, the reason i was annoyed was a shocking one; i realised after my first 2 shots that the ang mo dude couldn't guard me! Naturally i couldn't guard him either, in fact he tried to dunk one on me although he failed, but he scored at least 15-20 points on my head i think. he just banged his way in, shot, maybe missed it, grab the rebound over my head and put the ball in. Couldn't do anything lol. But the main point here was he couldn't guard me. Elaboration in blow by blow: My first shot was something of a lucky one. I got the ball on my weak side (right side), faked a baseline drive and spun on him. His teammate came over to help, but he didnt need it as he was all over me and he yelled to his teammate to let him handle it. I mishandled the ball, but somehow the teammate mishandled it too and it rolled between his legs. I grabbed it and went for an easy layup with the ang mo dude totally off guard. The second shot was pretty badass, after dancing with him near the 3 point line i dropped my shoulder and went past him for an easy reverse layup. I was getting cocky at that time and decided to try my BI SHA (surekill) move on him. Drove in without losing him, spun around for a shot fake. He bit heavily on it, and i stepped through for the kill. (For a clearer picture, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXFl5x8FmXM. Its one of my standard moves). This move has never failed me, ever, since i usually step forward with such a huge step i'm way too far from my defender for him to contest my shot. But today i lost my 100% streak. Somehow, he managed to reach over with his uber long hands and got a touch on the ball. It bounced back to me but off guard, i fumbled it out of play. Damn... i owned him with some trickery, but he sent the ball right back in my face. After that i ended the half playing angry and only scored 3 more points (one shot and a free throw). But it could have been more if i got the ball as much as i liked... the ang mo guy was surprisingly easy to bai tuo (drive past him).
In the 3rd and final game, thats when i had the best experience all year. annddd well it was pretty well described at the top. (no point describing the other plays, opponents were mediocre unlike in the first two games)
But i have to be really grateful to my team, since i cant deny that my style of play is a rather self-centred one. 75% of my points were off isolation plays. Couldn't have had such a good time if they didnt have patience with me, especially when at one stretch i missed 5 free throws consecutively. ie its a strange situation. I have no chance of performing brilliantly if i'm not the top player in my team. wait.. hang on that makes perfect sense. not so strange afterall i guess.
