dream team?

somehow suddenly my bball bros morphed into a dream team? All along i thought we were playing for fun, and it WAS fun cos we were all really close bros. But i never thought we would be able to compete against other serious teams. Well we played a bunch of full court games today, stepped out of our comfort zones (i have so much pride in my bros for stepping out, for some it was their first full court game), and actually won once and was competitive in some of the others, which is way beyond what i expected. i love my bros, but i honestly expected to get whupped in every game.

and i know the reason. its our fit. we're still figuring it out but the potential is there. as the most experienced player who is also a pass-first guy, i'm the perfect point guard for this team. But my vision for this team is that i won't be the one assisting. My role is to bring up the ball safely since I have the best handles (although i'm still prone to turnovers when i get ganged 2v1 ala steph curry. still figuring it out just like he did last season. i have all the skills and size, length to pull it off. its just my decision making. i also need to fake pass and bounce pass more), and dump it off to our centre who will be the point centre from there on. I won't score, nor assist much. My biggest duty as i see it is to control the rhythm and pace of the game, which shouldn't be an issue with my experience. It boils down to when to initiate a break, when to slow it down, when to hit the gunner for quick points, when to get a nice passing game going (where the play should end with the gunner, not start.)

and we finally found a shooting guard who can actually shoot. the biggest problem in singapore teams today. Hes a gunner and volume shooter but that is perfect for our team as both the point centre and i are gun-shy. he will bring out both of our full passing abilities.

and a forward who moves off the ball EXTREMELY well. i have finally confirmed that some people just have the feel for it, and some people (me) do not. I think it has something to do with the presence in kuroko also. I know the presence thing in kuroko sounds like total bullshit, but its the only way to explain how people can consistently get open and score at will. and our forward exploits this EXTREMELY well. him and the gunner will be our top scorers, and he will have the highest fg% in the team.

finally the centre. i always knew he could pass the heck out of the ball (which is why i see him as the point centre), but i never knew he could box out like a BOSS. i think he developed that skill only recently, and hes beasting at it.

none of us are really that good, but its just a really good fit.

also, i will never be currylite as long as i haven't succeeded in my career yet. but i can aim to be giannis. i have all the physical tools.
